Palación de Toñanes
HTON1, Toñanes, North Spain
This handsome Cantabrian mansion, dating back to 1703, was converted into a small hotel just over twenty years ago. Sitting in a beautifully kept garden of 12,000 m2, on the edge of the coastal farming village of Tonanes, it has a good open air swimming pool and its own restaurant and bar.
With 18 traditionally furnished, comfortable bedrooms, some in the main house and some in the two annexes, it has a pleasant and welcoming family feel to it and is a great place to relax after a busy day of sightseeing.
Between the medieval town of Santillana del Mar and the quirky resort of Comillas with its Gaudi Caprice, the lovely rural beach of Cobreces is under two kilometres away and the stunning clifftops with a ruined mill at Bolao much nearer.
Accommodation
The hotel has 18 double / twin bedrooms with ensuite bathrooms. Ten rooms are in the main house where two large rooms have balconies (these can be configured as triple rooms). The remaining eight rooms are in the annexes and have private terraces (some can be configured as triple / connecting rooms). All rooms have a T.V. and a hairdryer.
There is also a separate cottage which sleeps six, with two bedrooms, a living room, two bathrooms and a terrace.
