Family run hotel in Madrid’s artistic centre
Set in the genuine Madrileño neighbourhood of Lavapies yet with all the city's major art galleries – El Prado, the Thyssen-Bornemisza and the Reina Sofia – within a short walk, this small, family-run hotel is a breath of fresh air.
The building, which has been in the family for two generations, has been recently restored with clean, white decor throughout making the most of Madrid's wonderful light whilst retaining some delightful original features like the period staircase.
The hotel's position, just out of the main touristic centre, also affords the visitor a more authentic view of this modern, multicultural city and with Atocha train station just 1km away opens the door to excursions out to some of Spain's most exciting cities.

Madrid, Madrid and Inland Spain
Madrid, the capital of Spain since 1562 and its largest city, lies right in the centre of the country. With its high altitude it enjoys hot, dry summers and cold, but sunny winters, making it a city to visit at any time of the year.
Though it has a modern infrastructure, it has preserved the look and feel of many of its historic neighbourhoods and streets and each quarter or "barrio" has a distinctive atmosphere about it.
Rich in monuments, some dating back to the Hapsburg Empire, it also boasts the Golden Triangle of Art – The Prado Museum, The Reina Sofia and The Thyssen Bornemisza which complement each other.
Along with the magnificent Royal Palace and Royal Theatre and Opera house and the lovely Buen Retiro park, the highlights are the Puerta del Sol, the Cibeles fountain and the Plaza Mayor right at the core of the city.
But Madrid is not just a cultural centre – it is a lively metropolis with the most amazing selection of bars, restaurants and night clubs and an enviable night life.
The streets can be full of people at 5.00 am, but most of them are not heading for work! No wonder they say "De Madrid al cielo" – from Madrid to Heaven!
