Although set back a couple of kilometres from the coast, Begur is the jewel in the crown of the Costa Brava, set on the hill above a string of crystal clear coves, perfect for kayaking, snorkelling or sunbathing. For hikers the Cami de Ronda, the coastal path which runs the length of the Costa Brava, clings to the coastline below the town – but take your cossie, you won’t be able to resist those beaches!
With an impressive castle sat on a vantage point with incredible views along the coast (the perfect spot to watch the sunset) and a delightful medieval old-town, it’s easy to see why Begur has become so fashionable with those in the know – a popularity that has brought with it a fine selection of restaurants and artsy boutique shops.
Strategically placed at the heart of the Costa Brava Begur is the ideal base to discover this beautiful part of Catalunya.
Head inland to the medieval villages of Pals and Peratallada or Girona with its rich Jewish heritage and fortified Cathedral.
Seafood is obviously a highlight here but there are also fine local ingredients from the nearby mountains all served up with Catalán flare – and the fine local wines of the Empordá region to accompany…
