La Casa del Presidente
HAVA2, Ávila, Madrid and Inland Spain
Historic hotel by the walls in Ávila
For an astounding combination of ancient and modern history you'll struggle to beat this delightful, small 5-star hotel – it has the World Heritage 11th century walls of Ávila as its garden wall and at the same time was the home of Spain's first democratic president after the death of the dictator General Franco.
A traditional stone mansion, it has a covered courtyard, lovely private gardens and a pretty pool, a nice touch in the summer heat of Castille. The restoration has been carried out in such a way as to preserve the historical significance, with the president's office now serving as the reception and the original kitchen as the restaurant is a living museum!
The hotel is perfectly located within the city walls and a short walk to the cathedral, as well as the many shops, bars and restaurants. The helpful staff will go out of their way to ensure that you get the most out of your stay in Ávila.
